BE CONTENT. Click and read more.
Let you conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. So that you may boldly say, the Lord is my helper, I will not fear what man shall do unto me. (Hebrew13: 5-6)
'Godliness with contentment is a great gain' is a very popular scripture and expression we use. Covetousness is a strong desire for something that belongs to someone else. Covetousness is a very wicked canker worm that should not be allowed in our lives. Covetousness is that unhealthy desire that makes you believe that only deserve the right to have every good thing you eyes see. It pushes you to go out of you way to get all you can and then, can all you get. Covetousness in local parlance is simply 'long throat'. For me it is a clear indicator of selfishness.
Covetousness limits you in every way because it will not allow you practice the value of giving. The reason being that you do not think the person you will give a gift or show favour to deserves it better than you. Today God states clearly that we should be content with whatever we have. Always remember that whatever we have or acquired was given by the grace of our heavenly Father.
Contentment on the other hand helps you stay thankful. It allows God the opportunity to show up as our helper. Contentment is the pair of glasses we should wear in order to have the right perspective and identify when God does a new thing in our lives to provoke us to a state of thanksgiving.
I like the latter part of this scripture that says 'so that you may boldly say, the Lord is my helper.......'.
Can you confidently look back at your approach to life and say that God is you only true source of help? God has never been a gate crasher. It is important that we stay content and allow God have His way because I tell you that some where along the way challenges will come your way and you will have to go back to your source for help and refreshing. The Shunemite woman had the impetus to go back to Elijah because it was God that gave her a son.
Beloved pause a while and take stock of your achievements and be sure that the contents of these verses can be your true boast. God is still in the business of help. He is still our Ebenezer.
GOD WILL TAKE TIME TO GIVE YOU YOUR OWN. HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU.
