For thou has been a
strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from
heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.
(Isaiah 25:4)
Chapter 25
of the book of Isaiah is really beautiful. It begins with a declaration in
verse one saying,”O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for
thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and
truth.” It goes on to show various reasons why we will exalt the Lord
and praise the Lord. Our interest today is in verse four as written above.
“For thou has been a
strength to the needy in his distress.” The Lord is caring and is concerned about the state of
His children. He is strength to the needy. It says that our heavenly Father is
strength to those in need. It did not stop at the need part put also is
interested in the distress that comes with overwhelming needs. You will agree
with me that in life we all get to various needy states and a sense of
helplessness fills your heart. For every time we encounter life’s challenges it
is important to note that the Lord will come through and accomplish two things
for each need.
First He meets the physically need
and secondly He moves on to the emotional side of us. Every time you find
yourself in an overwhelming situation the stress on your emotion if not well
handled can cause your blood pressure to rise. That emotional state of imbalance
can lead to other negatives so the Lord releases a total need-meeting package
to keep us close to Him and ultimately bring back the glory to Him. Hallelujah!
“A refuge from the storm, a shadow from heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.” He is a total God. He is undeniably the best thing that can happen to anyone that trusts Him in all things. Whether it is a storm like situation, He will be a refuge in the storm, a shadow from the heat (He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty). When the wicked blasts of the enemy come raging, the Lord is there to be a shield and your deliverer. I pray that you will walk continually with this understanding daily and know the direction to seek help when in need and distress. Bless you!
