SAFE DWELLING

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil. (Proverbs 1:33)

The benefits of following God are so numerous. God is complete in all ramifications. Clearly he states that whoever hearkens (to hearken means to listen and to listen means to take note of what is said so that you follow the advice and believe what you are told) will dwell safely. You will be quiet from evil. He that keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps. He will not allow evil come near your dwelling. He shall preserve your going out and coming in. It is therefore important to hearken to God’s words.

“But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely.” Our God is awesome and also all-knowing. If he says there is need to hearken to the words and instructions he gives via his word then trust me, it will be of great benefit to us if he we heed his words. God emphasized the main benefit in this verse. He says I shall dwell safely. You shall dwell safely.
Let me illustrate a bit. A mother on her way out instructs her children to stay indoors. She insists the children should not come out to play. Assuming she has two children; one out of the two decides to go out and play.

During the course of his play he mistakenly steps on a nail and starts to bleed. Obviously the child’s disobedience has caused him an injury and by extension an unbudgeted hospital expense for the parent. Yes the wound will heal after being treating but the pain and discomfort during the process will also be part of his package. So it is with our God; if he has given an instruction in his word to us it is for our benefit.
