WHO CAN DIRECT THE LORD? Click and read.

Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counselor hath taught him? With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him in the path of judgement, and taught him and shewed to him the way of understanding. Behold the nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are counted as small dust of the balance. Behold he taketh up the isles as a very little thing. (Isaiah 40:13-15)

It is truly amazing how some people walk around with an air of superiority as if they are the Lord’s personal assistant or even occupy a higher position than the Lord. The word of God is complete and the Lord has a few questions that He wants answers to. There is another set of people that exist and they are those that have doubts about the potency of our God. Because of certain challenges faced by His children doubt is allowed to blossom and take deep roots in the hearts of men and women. Sometimes the Lord takes time to give us a wakeup call and jolt us into thanksgiving.

“Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being his counselor hath taught him?” Let me ask is it possible to direct the Spirit of the Lord? You can only partially direct something or someone you can see and have more authority over. I am yet to see the traffic warden that can attempt to give the Holy Spirit direction. Or is there any competent counselor that can show up and beat his or her chest and claim to have the competence to teach our God? I am already laughing even as I write. The answer is a clearly no one. Let me ask whose credentials can rival the one who is known as I Am That I Am? Can any claim Omniscience, Omnipotent or Omnipresent in any field?

“And who instructed him in the path of judgement, and taught him and shewed to him the way of understanding.” It is like someone telling me that they function as God’s street light in the street called “sound judgement”. As if that is not enough the Lord wants to know who can boast of teaching the one that created the earth in six days and show the way of understanding. You should be breaking out in worship by now because you have realized that the Lord Almighty has no such rival and never will.

“Behold the nations are as a drop in a bucket, and are counted as small dust of the balance. With all the number of nations we know, the Lord said according to His own measurement; the entire nations equal a drop in a bucket. Let me ask if all the nations equal a drop in a bucket; is your current situation or problem equal to the size of a nation? Then be rest assured that your matter is a joke that the Lord will not seat to answer. We need to take time to digest the knowledge of the awesomeness of our God. “Behold he taketh up the isles as a very little thing. All the islands are a little thing. Hallelujah! Great is our God.

A STRONG ARM. Click and read

Behold the Lord will come with a strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold his reward is with him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. (Isaiah 40: 10-11)

This beautiful chapter is an encouragement to God’s people. It starts with “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith the Lord” in verse 1. It continues in verse 2 with “Speak comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.” For all that Jerusalem had previously experienced the Lord was about to release double blessings to wipe out the tears from their eyes.

Behold the Lord will come with a strong hand,” The lord always says what He means and says what He means. “Behold” simply means just that. It tells you that what is about to happen will be clear enough for you to see. Open your eyes and see the way the Lord will come with a strong hand. “And his arm shall rule for him: behold his reward is with him.” The arm of the Lord strong and does valiantly at all times especially when it is the set time for Him to show forth. The arm has the hand attached to it. Interestingly The Lord’s arm is not empty rather it has reward in it.

“He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm,” The Lord cares for us as his children. We are the sheep of His pasture and the Lord our God and maker. He says he will feed us who are His flock like a shepherd would. Remember the Lord is our shepherd and we shall not want (Psalm 23:1). A shepherd keeps a very close eye on his flock. He knows the condition of each sheep in his herd. So is our God with us. He is so mindful of us. He knows us by name; He knows the number of strands of hair that are on your head.

“He shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom,” he will gather us as lambs with his arm. We know how helpless a lamb can be. There are times of helplessness in our lives. At such times the Lord becomes our present help in time of need. He gathers with his arm because while he gathers with his arm we are protected. He does not just stop at gathering; he goes further to carry us in His bosom. He brings us close enough to feel His heart beat towards us.

“And shall gently lead those that are with young.” Wait a minute! The Almighty is also concerned about those that are with young. We as parents are custodians of our children. Children are a gift from God. Many times in our parenting journey we run out of ideas. This part of the verse is there to encourage us that He that gave us children is also able to release wisdom as the need arises. So when next the tantrums arise; hand it over to the Lord. It helps.

FROM A DEEP PLACE. Click and read.

Whatever the Lord pleased that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places. He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the winds out of his treasuries. (Psalm 135:6-7)

One more time we will look at these beautiful verses. We have already established that it is what God pleases that He does. Remember it is not of him that wills or runs but of God that shows mercy. That is clearly a humbling experience. As much we like to be in control we must always remember that Jehovah has the final say in our lives and affairs. All things by His design will work together for our good. The Lord causes the sun to be in the position it is. He set the planets in their position. He is awesome. He made the stars and all we can think of. On the earth His works are also manifest.

“Whatever the Lord pleased that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.” The Lord does what He pleases in whatever location. As we walk round daily on this earth the Lord watches over us. He preserves our going out and our coming in. He says we are blessed in the city and the field. Did you also notice that among the places the Lord has His way, the deep places are included? I want to say by faith that no matter the deep place you are currently in, the Lord himself can reach out to you and pull you out to the high place he desires you to be in.

A deep place is exactly what it is. Sometimes we go through a lot of stuff in our lives and we feel like we are in a deep dungeon hoping that help will come our way so that we can rise to the top and breathe some fresh air of liberty. The beauty of every experience we go through is that there is always hope for coming out but the challenge is usually the attitude we carry when we are in our deep place. The bible says that when other men are saying there is a casting down, we should declare there is a lifting up because we are aware of who is backing us up.  Our help is in the name of the Lord.
The Lord is able to reach out to us no matter how bad the situation. We need to trust Him and feel free to call out to Him and He will deliver us. Thank you Lord that we can call out to You from any depth and You will answer and deliver us. We are grateful in Jesus name.

THE LORD HAS HIS WAY.

We take a look at these beautiful verses again. Verse 6 starts on a beautiful note. It clearly tells us how the Lord operates. “Whatever the Lord pleased that did he”, it is what pleases the Lord that he does. He does it anywhere he chooses irrespective of the location; whether it is in heaven, in the earth, in the seas and even in deep places God has dominion over the events that go on in  that location. Remember we are sitted with Christ Jesus in heavenly places far above principalities in heavenly places. So it is important that you understand that it pleases the Lord that you have dominion over principalities and powers. Study to show yourself approved a workman approved by God that is not ashamed; rightly dividing the word of truth (2 timothy 2:15).
Clearly the Lord has dominion in the earth because he made the earth and all that is in it. When scripture tells you categorically that the Lord does what He pleases it is true. For us His children to understand what pleases the Lord it is important to study the word of God because therein lies the revelation of what pleases the Lord. It pleases the Lord in 3 John 2 that we prosper and be in good health even as our soul prospers. It pleases the Lord to think thoughts of good and not evil to give you an expected end according to Jeremiah 29:11. It pleases the Lord to give you power to make wealth according to Deuteronomy 8:18.
It pleases the Lord that blessed you will be in your going out and when you also come in (Deut. 28).  It pleases the Lord that the sun should not smite thee by day or the moon by night. It pleases Him that evil shall not come near your dwelling place. He is the shade upon thy right hand (Psalm 121). The list of the what pleases the Lord is endlessly so I implore you to make out time and search out the goodies in God’s word and claim it because we are his children and it is our entitlement in Jesus name.
“He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the winds out of his treasuries.” The Lord delights in the prosperity of the righteous. He is the same God that causes vapour to ascend. Yes our God is that detailed because he is a God of balance. The same God that allows the law of gravity to operate is the same God that allows the law of aerodynamics. Celebrate our God.
