While the earth remaineth,
seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and
night shall not cease. (Genesis 8:22)
God is a God
of order and principles. Everything in this life has a sense of order if it
must work right. As long as we are on this planet, God has assured us of seed-time and harvest time. The question then to us all is “What seeds are we
planting presently?” A farmer that plants maize expects a harvest of maize. A
businessman plants or invests his capital with the expectation that the
investment will yield profits.
Did you also
know that whatever you plant in any other area of life is what you will reap?
If you plant kindness in the lives of people you will reap kindness. If you
plant love or peace you reap the same. On the other hand, if for any reason you
decide to plant malice you should also expect to reap same. If you plant hate,
strife, laziness, nonchalant attitude or any other thing it is only natural
that you should reap same.
“While the earth
remaineth, seedtime and harvest… shall not cease.” Usually when we read this scripture
we are tempted to restrict your mind to literal seed sowing or your thoughts
will revolve around your giving lifestyle as per seed sowing. However it is important
that we pen up our minds to the fact that we sow different things at different
times.
Let me go further to say that sometimes the degree or magnitude of we
reap from sowing may be small or big. For instance, a farmer plants a grain of
corn per space but at maturity or harvest the grain of corn grows to a full cob
of corn having hundreds of grains. There are many who will attest to the fact
that their little acts of kindness came back to them in a big way they never
anticipated.
It is important that as we go through life that we are careful to sow good seeds as much as possible and avoid bad seeds because harvest is inevitable. One that sows laziness should anticipate emptiness. Pay attention to your actions as you go through life so that you are sure that you are setting yourself up for something great. Remember seedtime and harvest will not cease because of your carelessness.
There are people today that are so used to playing the blame game and they fail to realize that they sowed their seeds. As we all go through life we must pay attention to our actions and ask the Lord for wisdom to take right decisions. Sow right, reap right. A farmer that sows poor yielding seeds should not expect a good harvest.
