CALL UPON THE LORD

And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. (Psalm 50:15)

Situations will always arise when you will need God’s help. It is only God that has the capacity to deliver miraculously. Keep in mind that our needs in life are channels of ensuring your relationship with God and also show forth His glory. If we do not have needs that we cannot handle then we will never fully understand our need for God. Your need act as prompters to look in God’s direction for help.

God will always create avenues for you to praise and glorify him. King David had a full understanding of the efficiency of our God. Remember David was described as the man after God’s heart. David realized that the Lord was his oxygen for sustenance as he went through life. Clearly this is evident in his psalms. Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the ends of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Psalm 61:1 – 2). David was indeed a great man that saw reasons to always call upon the Lord. After all he was after God’s heart.

“And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me”. This verse of scripture is clear on the fact that the Lord is not joking. When He says a thing He means it. The Lord commands that we should call him in the day of trouble. There are people who when in trouble call other people or other deities. People have a tendency to naturally call who they know or who they are in a relationship with. If we are confident of our relationship with the Lord, then we should call out to him boldly. The Lord is also aware of the fact that life is not always going to be a smooth sail. But one thing is guaranteed deliverance is our assurance.

“And thou shalt glorify me.” The motivation of God’s deliverance in your life is always based on the fact that we will glorify him when he delivers us. Remember the Lord has made it known to us by the declaration of the host of heaven. Thou art worthy, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things and for thy pleasure they are and were created. (Revelation 4:11). So whenever you find yourself in that situation you can define as trouble go ahead and call on the Lord for surely he will deliver in Jesus name.
